SCLT seeking volunteers to prepare Big Goose Natural Area for public

Sheridan Community Land Trust is seeking volunteers to assist the team in preparing the Big Goose Natural Area to open its wings and fly.
According to SCLT, volunteers will work with the SCLT staff on various projects, including mowing to create recreation trails, installing signs, removing debris, and other projects that will allow the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area to welcome the community immediately.
This community volunteer opportunity will begin at 1 p.m. and run until 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area, located at 14 Lane Ln., in Sheridan.
SCLT is recommending volunteers wear appropriate work clothes and footwear and bring a water bottle. Volunteers may also bring chore gloves and yard tools. SCLT will provide refreshments.
Beginning this year, SCLT intends to invest approximately $500,000 into the Big Goose Natural Area over the next five years to steward the land for agricultural use, enhance outdoor recreation opportunities through fishing, floating and trail development.
The organization will also work to preserve the history on-site, and use the property to engage the community in entertaining and educational programming.
The SCLT Big Goose Natural Area is permanently conserved and will serve the community for generations.
