The YMCA Youth Swim Lessons

The lessons at the YMCA are for children ages 3-13 years old. These lessons are designed to teach participants skills that will be taken with them and used throughout life. The confidence gained with independence in the water is invaluable.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Sheridan County YMCA Executive Director Liz Cassiday said there are new sessions beginning every month and it is never too early or too late to learn these life saving skills.

YMCA staff try to maintain a minimum of a one to six ratio with swim lesson students and if possible will add instructors to keep ratio down to increase more time practicing with each participant. Each class is catered to the level that each participant is in at the time they join the class.
Swim lessons teach skills that children will take with them and use throughout life. The confidence gained with independence in the water is priceless.
According to the National Institute of Health, children who take swim lessons have an 88% reduced risk of drowning. Mastering swimming skills can significantly boost a child’s self-esteem and sense of accomplishment.
