Women’s Hike at Fort Phil Kearny

State Parks Site Superintendent Sharie Shada announced a womens hike will be taking place around Fort Phil Kearny this month. 

The hike will also offer tips, tricks, education and techniques for hiking in rough terrain.

The Fort Phil Kearny Women’s Hike will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22. A $4 entrance fee is required. Shada said the views around the area are well worth the time and effort of hiking.

Fort Phil Kearny is a Wyoming State Historic location near the town of Story. The fort served as a major epicenter during the events of Red Cloud’s War, 1866-1868. 

Today, the site encompasses 1000 acres, including Fort grounds, two major battle sites, an interpretive center. vast wildlife habitat and trails.
