Located approximately one mile north of Guernsey, Wyo, the Pleasant Valley Fire started on July 30. Since that time a Wyoming Type 3 Team consisting of interagency personnel from local, state and federal agencies have been battling the blaze amidst dry windy conditions.
The fire remains at approximately 28,984 acres in size, and is currently at 90% containment.
According to a Wyoming Type 3 Interagency Incident Management Team report, crews will continue to mop up remaining heat and smoke as well as increase containment.
Crews will also begin rehabilitation activities, such as pulling hose, building water bars and repairing areas disturbed during fire suppression efforts. The incident will support local departments with any new initial attack fires if requested.
Chances of afternoon and evening thunderstorms exist through Wednesday, which could bring gusty and erratic winds. Hot and dry conditions were present on Tuesday and predicted to persist through Wednesday, with highs in the low to mid-90s. A brief period of gusty southerly winds are possible the evening prior to the cold front, which is expected to bring cooler temperatures with forecasts in the high 60s Thursday and Friday.
