A jury trial was held in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan last November for a man charged with numerous counts of burglary. The jury reached a guilty verdict on 15 counts of felony burglary against 30-year-old William Holliday. The multi-day trial began on November 3 and concluded on November 13. Following an extensive investigation by the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office, Holliday was arrested in March of 2023 and charged with the crimes for breaking into vehicles and stealing items from the vehicles. The crime spree began during the fall of 2022 and continued through February of 2023.
At a hearing Thursday, District Court Judge Darci Phillips sentenced Holliday to 5 to 10 years in prison for each of the 15 counts of burglary. The sentences will run concurrent to one another. Judge Phillips ordered Holliday to pay $3,140 in court costs and assessments, $3,000 in public defender fees and $3,257.50 in restitution to the victims of the burglaries. Holliday was also given credit for 164 days of time served for presentence confinement. Holliday has also been charged with 10 counts of burglary in Johnson County for crimes similar in nature to the burglaries he committed in Sheridan County. His trial in Johnson County is scheduled to begin March 11.
