UW Winter Commencement Dec. 16

The University of Wyoming is alerting the public that they will accord degrees to over 800 students during a combined winter commencement ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, in the Arena-Auditorium.

According to UW, the new graduates include 561 undergraduate students, 237 graduate students and six College of Law students.

Speakers for winter commencement include primary speaker Mary Shafer-Malicki, current chair of the UW Foundation Board who had a long and successful career in the oil and gas industry. That included work for Amoco Corp. and BP Exploration Operating Co. in 10 locations and six countries.

The student speaker is Mercy McAndrew, of LaGrange, who was born in China but raised in Wyoming. She is graduating with an English degree and plans to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees to become a professor, the University reports.

Attendees are encouraged to be seated inside the Arena-Auditorium by 9:30 a.m., and tickets are not required for attendees. The ceremony will be livestreamed via YouTube and WyoCast. Livestream links are posted here

Graduates participating in commencement need to gather at War Memorial Fieldhouse at 8:30 a.m.
