JCSD1 Board Gets Transportation Report

The Johnson County School Board was updated by the transportation department during their regular meeting earlier this month.
Director Bill McKenzie said in his written report that his department has completed entry level driver training with two drivers.
One driver has passed his test and will be utilized for the vacant Buffalo South Route, while the other driver was expected to finish his testing soon.
The special needs driver has resigned and McKenzie will be appointing a new driver for that position.
Travel for fall sports and activities has wrapped up and the department is preparing for the winter season.
Staff vehicles have been utilized more with the increase in gas prices, and more maintenance has been needed due to the increase in use.
Bus routes have been running smoothly he said, and wanted to remind parents that with the upcoming winter driving conditions some buses may experience delays.
He said safety will be the top priority over published route times and the department will try to communicate major delays when they happen.
