Pat BlairCarol Garber was elected chairman of the Sheridan County School District 1 board of trustees Tuesday night, an action made necessary by the resignation last month of trustee Gary Reynolds, who has chaired the board.
Garber served as vice chairman of the board with Reynolds, so Clint Krumm was elected to replace her in that position.
In other action Tuesday, trustees approved Northern Underground LLC of Sheridan as contractor for a project to modify the parking lot at the Tongue River Learning Center – which is the old Tongue River Elementary School in Ranchester.
Total bid for the project was a little over $659,000. The district’s Business Manager Jeremy Smith said the district received three bids for the project, and all were fairly close.
Smith said the district has worked previously with Northern Underground and has been very pleased with the work the company has done for the district.
The bid included a base bid of slightly over $656,000 for reconstruction of the front parking lot, including the entrance all the way to the turnaround.
The balance of the contract is for work to be done under Alternate A. Smith said that involves grinding the existing asphalt on the parking lot into rotomill, then taking that material to the district’s bus barn where it will be used on the gravel parking area at the barn.
