A Sheridan man who admitted to committing a sex crime, will spend a little bit of time behind bars, but he has a longer sentence laying in wait, if he gets in trouble with the law again.

Andrew Martin was given a 4-to-7 year suspended prison sentence, but he must spend 120 days in jail and then complete 3 years of supervised probation, after he pleaded guilty to one charge of second degree sexual abuse of a minor.

According to court documents, Martin was charged with the crime for allegedly having sexual contact with a girl under the age of 14, when he was 33 years of age.

The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation in July of 2022, after receiving an intake report from the Department of Family Services.

The victim stated the incidents happened in October and November of 2020.

When interviewed, Martin confessed and was arrested.

Will he be registered as a sex offender? Will he have to notify current/prospective neighbors of this offense?
