Wyoming US Representative Harriet Hageman has a similar viewpoint to that of Governor Mark Gordon when it comes to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s Conservation and Landscape Health’s proposed rule.
In late March, the U.S. BLM announced its intent to protect intact landscapes, restore degraded habitat and make management decisions based on science and data.
Governor Gordon testified in Washington a few days ago saying that such issues are for state BLM’s to deal with.
Hageman says the new rule would be harmful to Wyoming.
“The new BLM so-called conservation rule has the potential of just absolutely devastating agriculture in the interior west, because what they are going to do is they’re going to stop all grazing on public lands. That’s the intent of it and it’s not only going to affect our farmers and ranchers, it’s going to destroy our local communities.”
The BLM recently extended the public comment period for the rule to July 5th.
