Buffalo Mayor Shane Schrader announced during Tuesday’s city council meeting that applications for One-Percent funding from the city and county are due before the end of February.

Applications for the 2023-24 Johnson County/City of Buffalo One Percent funds will be taken until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, and can be turned in to either the Johnson County Commissioner’s Office, or Buffalo City Hall.

Both the city council and county commission will take the recommendations of the 1% Optional Sales Tax Committee to distribute funding to entities such as the YMCA, animal shelter, and city and county governmental departments.

Funding will be awarded later this spring.

Last year the city allocated $165,000 and the county also set their allocation at $165,000 for a total allocation for the One-Percent Committee of $330,000.

Applications are available at city hall and the county courthouse, or online at the county website.
