Local agriculture teams win big at the National Western Stock Show

According to Black Hawk College Livestock Judging’s Facebook page, the livestock judging team finished the first week of the National Western Stock Show currently being held in Denver, CO. 

Current member of Black Hawk College Livestock Judging team and former John B. Kendrick FFA and Sheridan County 4-H member, Maggie McStay, took 4th in cattle, 2nd in cattle reasons, 4th in reasons and 2nd in swine. 

But the titles earned by local judges didn’t stop there. According to the Wyoming FFA Assocaition’s Facebook page, four members of the Buffalo FFA won the 2023 NWSS Wool Judging Contest. These team members were Emma Pehringer, Lane Boden, Lance Rabel and Lane Rabel.

Lane Rabel took 2nd in placing classes and Pehringer took 4th with the high individual overall being won by Boden.

Boden also took 2nd in grading classes and Lance Rabel took first place. Lane Rabel took 1st overall. 

For reasons, Lane Rabel took 1st place and Boden took 3rd. 

According to the WFAA, for the entire contest, Lance Rabel was 10, Pehringer took 5th, Lane Rabel was 3rd and Boden took 1st place. 

The Buffalo FFA Team finished in 1st place as the National Champions.
