Ron RichterThe Wyoming Highway Patrol recently seized over 200 pounds of Marijuana during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 near Elk Mountain. According to a media release from the WHP, at 1:16 pm on October 30, a trooper assigned to the Elk Mountain area stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction near milepost 263 on I-80.
The driver gave inconsistent statements, and the trooper observed additional suspicious factors that led him to detain the driver. A Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper responded and deployed his K-9 partner, “Bailey,” who gave a positive alert indicating the odor of an illegal substance. The resulting search yielded approximately 221 pounds of Marijuana.
The driver was arrested and booked into the Carbon County Detention Center on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and failure to maintain a single lane of travel.

…the Highway Patrol should hang on to this weed….after the greedy legislature legalizes marijuana the HP can give each legislator who votes “yea” on the measure a free bag to take home…

That would include HD 51 State Rep. Cyrus Western, who told me weed should be allowed in Wyoming. I completely disagree.

If Dawnessa Snyder is the judge, she’ll just let them go. I’ll quote: “Although the children were in the same vehicle as the marijuana, there is no evidence that the Defendant had consumed marijuana, nor cared for the children under the influence…. The court notes that there was no evidence that the children were affected by either of these charges [possession of marijuana and driving under the influence of drugs].”
