Aaron PalmerSheridan County’s Commissioners have voted to accept a contract between the county and the Wyoming Department of Health’s Community Services Program for a community block grant.
County Administrative Director Renee Obermueller gave more details, including Sheridan County’s administration of funding for Big Horn County.
This year’s funding includes Big Horn County’s portion of $65,540 and Sheridan County’s recipients the HUB on Smith, Sheridan Health Center, and Volunteers of America along with the county’s administrative fees for a total amount of $227,750.
The funding is used to assist low-income individuals and families with activities and support services to empower them to overcome the effects of poverty and to support their progress toward greater self-sufficiency.
The grant is good for the federal fiscal year of October 1st, 2021 through September 30th of 2022.
