Ron RichterChief United States District Court Judge Scott Skavdahl recently sentenced 40-year-old Donae Chavez of Gillette to 28 months’ imprisonment and five years of supervised release for the charge of conspiracy to commit bank fraud. Chavez was also ordered to play $9,971 in restitution and a $100 special assessment. The crime was investigated by the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department and the United States Postal Inspection Service and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Christyne Martens.
Also from Federal Court in Wyoming, 57-year-old Gerald Johnston of Springfield, Oregon was sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment and a $100 special assessment for the possession of stolen mail. The crime was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Judge Skavdahl sentenced 51-year-old William Blattel of Sacramento, California to 10 years in prison and three years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The crime was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
