Before 2006, Laramie owned the Sheridan Bronc football team.

Since then the Broncs have been returning the favor, and have almost tied up the overall series between the 2 teams.

Quarterback Carl Askins threw for 3 touchdowns, while Dane Steel caught two of them and ran in for another one, and Colson Coon caught the other passing TD, and ran for one of his own, as the Broncs shut out Laramie 57-0 to start the 2021 season.

Up 21-0 in the 2nd quarter, Sheridan would score twice in the final minute before halftime.

Askins to Steel was one of them, and then Rich Hall hooked up with Matthew Ketner just before the halftime horn, to make it 35-0 going into the locker room.

The Broncs would score two more times in the 3rd quarter to make it 50-0 and put the mercy rule into effect.

The defense would provide the final score of the game, with a 40-yard pick six.

The 57-point victory is the largest margin of victory for Sheridan against Laramie.

The win marks the 17th straight win in the head-to-head series, during which the Broncs have outscored the Plainsmen 681-115.

Laramie still leads the series, but Sheridan has closed the gap, trailing 43-41.

This is the 10th time that the Broncs have shut out the Plainsmen.

Sheridan will play their home opener on Friday, September 3rd vs. Cheyenne South.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm.
