SRD – The Sheridan Recreation District has all it’s summer program rolling right now and in the coming weeks registration will start for fall sports and activities.
Zach Stewart is an Adult Sports programmer and says across the board the numbers are very good in all the summer programs.
And over the next few weeks we will start seeing registration open for a couple of their fall offerings.
TROOPER BASEBALL – The Sheridan Troopers have won 11 of their last 13 and 30-18 overall they are off until Thursday they they host a double header with Spearfish, South Dakota the first game is set to begin at 5:00.
ROCKIES BASEBALL – Kyle Freeland pitched five scoreless innings before leaving with an apparent leg injury suffered while running the bases, Elías Díaz homered and the Rockies beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0.
The game was dubbed “Opening Day 2.0” after the lifting of all pandemic-induced attendance restrictions at 50,000-seat Coors field.
MLB ALL-STAR GAME – Rockies Shortstop Trevor Story said yesterday he will compete in this year’s home run derby at Coors field. Story becomes the fourth player to confirm his participation in the event, joining Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels, Trey Mancini of the Baltimore Orioles and Pete Alonso of the New York Mets.
Alonso won the most recent home run derby in 2019. The competition will be held on July 12, the night before the All-Star game.
BRONCO FOOTBALL – Former Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas retired from the NFL on Monday following a decade-long career in which he made the pro bowl five times. Thomas teamed up with Peyton Manning between 2012 and 2015 to lead the most prolific offense in the league.
Thomas was an Ironman at the position and played in every game during his final seven seasons in Denver. The Broncos plan to honor Thomas at their home opener against the New York Jets with a video tribute. Thomas also will be an honorary captain that day.
