Sheridan HS Softball: The Sheridan High School softball team will make their season debut today and tomorrow against various opponents in Cheyenne.
The Lady Broncs are one of 3 new teams in the state this season, with the other 2 being Jackson and Torrington.
Sheridan Head Coach Kristen Czaban says this weekend is a chance for the team to introduce themselves to the state, learn about the competition and about themselves.
The home opener for the Lady Broncs is one week from tomorrow vs. Thunder Basin at the Sheridan College Softball Complex.
Sheridan HS Soccer: Sheridan will host 3A Worland for a girls and boys double-header beginning at 3pm.
The Broncs have finished 3rd in each of the past 2 seasons.
Head Coach Wade Kinsey says this year’s team did not lose much to graduation and the players are ready to get past what they call a road block.
Meanwhile the Sheridan girls missed last year’s state tournament.
The Lady Broncs graduated 7 players but are trying to make up for it, by having more players come out for the team this time around.
Head Coach Josh Dube says since today’s game is a non-conference contest, it’s a great way for the team to feel things out and see what works, and what doesn’t.

Sheridan College Rodeo: The Sheridan College Cowboys and Cowgirls resumed the 2024-25 rodeo season this past weekend in Gillette.
Jake Schlattmann scored 137 points on 2 rides in the saddle bronc riding, good for 6th place on the weekend.
He is currently 4th in the season standings, and a competitor has to be in 3rd place or better at the end of the season, to qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo, which takes place in June at Casper.
Christopher Nelson (Saddle Broncs) and Faith Heim (Barrel Racing) each placed 9th in their respective events this past weekend.
This weekend is an off week from competition and the next scheduled rodeo event is next weekend at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington.
University of Wyoming Basketball: The season for the Wyoming Cowgirls came to an end last night in the first round of the Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament.
UW lost at home vs. Texas Tech 65-48.
The 2 differences in the game was that the opposition shot 48% from the field, compared to 34% for the home team.
Bench scoring also played a factor as Texas Tech won the statistic 15-5.
Allyson Fertig would end her college career with one last double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.
Malene Pedersen contributed with 13 points.
The Cowgirls finish the season with a record of 22-12.
Mountain West Conference Basketball: UNLV won their first round game of the WBIT at home last night vs. Hawaii 63-46, and will host Florida in the second round on Sunday.
In the women’s NIT, Air Force will play their first round game today at 6:30pm at home vs. Utah Valley.
On the men’s side, in the NCAA Tournament, Utah State was run off the court last night by UCLA 72-47.
There are 2 Mountain West Conference Teams remaining and both play today.
At 12-noon, Colorado State will take on Memphis.
That game will be played in Seattle.
New Mexico will tip off their game vs. Marquette at 5:25pm in Cleveland.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won yesterday at Ottawa 5-1.
The Avs next play tomorrow at Montreal.
Colorado Rockies Pre-Season Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won last night at Texas 7-4, scoring all of their runs on 4 long balls.
Sam Hilliard got things started with a 2-run shot.
Michael Toglia had a 2-run bomb of his own and Jordan Beck was right behind him with a solo home run.
Hunter Goodman then sent one over the wall for 2-runs of his own.
The Rocks next play today at home vs. the LA Angels starting at 2:10pm.
Tomorrow is a split squad day as half of the team will visit the Chicago Cubs, and the other half will host the Chicago White Sox.
On Sunday, Colorado will play at Milwaukee starting at 2:10pm.
