Sheridan HS Basketball: The Sheridan Broncs and Lady Bronc basketball teams are halfway through the conference portion of their schedule, and after facing every conference opponent 1 time, both teams are hanging around the middle of the pack in the conference standings.

This past weekend, both teams lost on Friday at Campbell County and won at home on Saturday vs. Thunder Basin.

This weekend the Broncs and Lady Broncs will start their second run through the 4A East.

The teams play on Friday at Cheyenne East and on Saturday at Cheyenne Central.


Tongue River/Big Horn/Arvada-Clearmont HS Basketball: Tongue River went 3-1 in games played this past weekend.

Both the boys and girls won on Friday at Moorcroft.

On Saturday, the girls won and the boys lost at home vs. Greybull.

The Big Horn girls won and the boys lost on Friday at Wright, and then both lost at home on Saturday vs. Rocky Mountain.

This coming Thursday, it’s round 2 as TR travels to BH.

The Eagles and Lady Eagles also play on Friday at Rocky Mountain, and on Saturday at home vs. Sundance.

The Rams and Lady Rams play on Friday at 1A Southeast.

Last week the Arvada-Clearmont girls won at home vs. the Campbell County JV team and at Kaycee.

The A-C boys lost both of those games and an additional game at home vs. Ten Sleep.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers play this Friday at home vs. Casper Christian and visit Midwest on Saturday.

Sheridan HS Wrestling: The Sheridan boys placed 8th and the girls 5th at the Ron Thon Invitational this past weekend in Riverton.

Keegan Rager and Kelten Crow both finished 1st in their respective weight classes.

This week Sheridan will compete in a number of dual matches, starting Thursday at Campbell County.

On Friday, both genders are at home to take on Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central, and on Saturday the teams will dual against Laramie.


Sheridan HS Boys Swimming: Sheridan placed 11th out of 18 teams this past weekend at the Gillette Invitational.

This coming Friday and Saturday is the 4A East Conference Meet at Laramie.


Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks had this past weekend off from competition.

There are 10 games or about 1 month to go on the regular season schedule.

The Hawks will continue their push towards the playoffs this coming Friday and Saturday at home vs. Great Falls.

Elsewhere in the NA3HL, Gillette has announced the team has parted ways with their head coach.

Last year the team lost in the NA3HL Frontier Division Championship Series, but advanced to the Frasier Cup tournament as a wild card team and made it to the semi-finals.

This year, the Wild are in 6th place in the standings and their playoff hopes are very slim, with 8 games remaining on the schedule.


Sheridan Hawks/Lady Hawks Amateur Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks boys team split weekend road games, winning both games at Jackson, and losing both games at Pinedale.

The team currently sits in 3rd place in the state B division and will conclude their regular season this coming Friday and Saturday at Gillette.

The state tournament runs from February 27th through March 2nd at Cody.

Meanwhile, the Sheridan Lady Hawks won both games at home this weekend vs. Miles City, Montana.

The team has the next 2 weekends off from competition and will conclude their regular season on February 22nd and 23rd at Cheyenne.


University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys had a 9 point lead with 6 ½ minutes to go this past Saturday at San Diego State, but could not hold on and lost 63-61.

The Aztecs would go on a 20-zip run to go up by 11.

UW would rally late with an 11-2 run in the final 10 seconds, but time ran out.

Dontaie Allen led the Brown and Gold with 18 points, while Obi Agbim contributed with a dozen.

The Pokes are now 11-11 on the season with a 4-7 record in the Mountain West Conference.

The team next plays tomorrow at home vs. Utah State.

The Wyoming Cowgirls put on a clinic back on Saturday as they won at home vs. Boise State 79-45.

The ladies scored 58 of their points in the paint and shot better than 55% from the field, while holding the opposition to about 30%.

Allyson Fertig had a double-double…22 points and 17 rebounds.

Emily Mellema also scored 22 and Malene Pedersen put in 15.

UW is now 13-9 on the season with a 7-3 record in the Mountain West Conference.

The Cowgirls have the mid-week off from competition and next play this coming Saturday at San Diego State.


Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won both of their road games this past weekend, winning on Friday at Philadelphia 137-134 and on Saturday at Charlotte 107-104.

The Nuggets next play today at home vs. New Orleans starting at 7pm.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won both of their home games this past weekend in shutout fashion, beating St. Louis on Friday 5-nothing and Philadelphia yesterday 2-zip.

The Avs next play tomorrow at Vancouver.
