Sheridan Football: The Sheridan Bronc football team made their longest road trip of the season this past weekend, and came away with a 39-to-28 win at Rock Springs, to improve their record to 4-and-oh on the season.
All the scoring in the first half for the Broncs, were courtesy of special teams.
Rock Springs botched a punt that was recovered in the end zone, and then Derrick Berrettini returned a kickoff 80 yards for a score just before halftime.
Sheridan Coach Jeff Mowry says there was a little concern regarding the offense’s performance in the first half…and then a little more concern regarding the defense in the 4th quarter when they let Tigers off the hook.
“Offensively we moved the ball fine, and just couldn’t finish drives. We fumbled the ball a couple of times. Second half, we came out and scored every time we got the ball and shut them out in the 3rd quarter, but then really gave up a lot of points in the 4th quarter, and so they made it a game in the end. Definitely got to finish on defense, hold them out of the end zone. We gave up a couple of long drives that we can’t do. We got make them drive the field and punt the ball and we only made them punt 3 times and that’s not enough and so the other thing is our pass defense. They completed a lot of passes, they threw it 40 times, and we got a team coming in this week with Thunder Basin that’s going to do the same and so we really got to brush up on our pass defense.”
Mowry adds the Broncs also need to make sure they stay healthy for this Friday’s game, because Rock Springs showed that they were no push-over.
“They were a very physical team, the most physical team we’ve seen so far, so our guys can be a little bruised and battered this week as we head into another big week.”
