Tom Dennison

Graveside services for Tom Dennison, 94 year old Buffalo resident who passed away on September 17th at the Johnson County Health Care Center in Buffalo, Wyoming, following a short illness, will be held Tuesday, September 28th at 11:00 a.m. in Willow Grove Cemetery with Pastor Paul Gilbert officiating.  The VFW and American Legion will be in charge of Military Graveside Rites. He will rest beside his beloved wife, Barbara. Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the St. Francis Animal Shelter in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.  Tom was a WWII veteran who joined the US Army in 1944 at the young age of 17 to serve his country and before retiring rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel, USAR.  He served in the European theater as an Infantryman and then in the military police.  His service continued in the Korean war.  Tom also participated in various US rifle teams at National Rifle Matches at Camp Perry, Ohio.  He was an Army Distinguished Rifleman. 

On April 23, 1949, he married Barbara Ann Wales and they lived for many years in Elyria and then on their farm in Penfield Township, Ohio.  But Tom and Barb loved the wide-open spaces and moved to Buffalo, Wyoming in 1989 and enjoyed retirement by Elk hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling together.   

Tom was a graduate of Elyria Memorial High School. He was also employed at General Industries as a Quality Control Manager where he retired in 1984.   He was a life member of VFW Post 1079, Elyria, Ohio and American Legion Post 8, Wellington, Ohio. 

Tom’s family wishes to express their appreciation for the Johnson County Sherriff’s Office, the Bozeman Trail Restaurant, many friends and neighbors in the community for their care and support of Tom during his time spent in your community.He is survived by his brother Robert W. Dennison of Phoenix AZ, his nephews, William Dennison (Phoenix AZ), and Brent Flood (Ohio), nieces Vickie Dennison (Phoenix AZ), Lisa Costa (Ohio) and Cindy Schreiber (David) (Granville, Ohio), great-niece, Amanda Mowery (Westerville, OH), great nephew, Christopher Mowery (Annie), and two great-grand nephews, Luke and Owen Mowery (Lewis Center Ohio).  He was proceeded in death by his parents, in-laws, wife Barbara Wales Dennison and sister-in-[CS1]law, Nancy Ann Dennison.
