Marcia Francelia Wood Thoreson, fondly known as “Marcie”, 72, a resident of Westview Healthcare Facility, flew over the rainbow with loving family by her side at 1:30am, Saturday, November 23rd, 2024.
Marcie was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Gene and Francelia, (Francie), Wood on February 21st, 1952. She joined older brother Phil, and sister Trudy, to complete the family of five. She was raised as a ranch girl as her father, Gene, worked throughout northeastern Wyoming and southeastern Montana for several different and successful ranch operations.
Marcie attended elementary school in Beckton, Wyoming, and transferred to Sheridan, graduating from High School in 1970. After High School, she attended Sheridan Junior College and was a member of the rodeo team. She met and married Gary Thoreson, a member of the Northwest Community College rodeo team from Powell, Wyoming, in 1972.
Gary and Marcie divorced in 1985 and Marcie became a single parent of daughter, Lisa. She and Lisa moved back to Sheridan and Marcie worked hard, holding down several different jobs. One of her most rewarding jobs was driving a bus for Goosecreek Transit, which she did for 14 years.
Marcie is survived by her daughter, Lisa Thoreson, Centralia, WA, her brother, Phil and his wife, Denise, Sheridan, Wyoming, niece Lauren Ward, (Dillon), and sons Bodey and Baker of Ada, OK., nephew CT Hill, (Alyssa), and their children, Brooke, Mackenzie and Tyler, of Ada, OK, brother-in-law, Tom Kittlemann and nephew, Cooper Kittlemann of Wickenberg, Az.
Although Marcie’s immediate family is quite small, her extended family numbers in the hundreds. Even though she was burdened by several serious health problems over the course of her life, Marcie never let it get her down. She had a gift of bringing joy and optimism to whoever crossed her path.
Please join us in celebrating Marcie’s contribution to our lives at 11am on December 11th at Kane Funeral Home, Sheridan, Wyoming. With a reception to follow.
Memorial Donations in Marcie’s name may be sent to The Hub on Smith, 211 Smith St., Sheridan, Wyoming
Online condolences may be written at www.kanefuneral.com. Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.

Marcie was a classmate of mine at SHS. I remember her as always having a smile and so pleasant. Having lost contact with her through the years it looks like she hadn’t changed a bit. Given her personality its no wonder that she had so many friends. RIP Marcia.❤️
