Grace Steil

Grace Steil passed away peacefully at Amie Holt Care Center at the age of 89. While at Amie Holt, Grace embraced her community of friends and cherished all who cared for her. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful staff and their caring and compassion of Grace these last couple of years. Donations in Grace’s memory may be made to St. Francis Animal Shelter, 109 Flat Iron Drive, Buffalo, Wyoming 82834. Grace was born April 3rd, 1935, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin to Raymond and Mary Ellen Woznick. She grew up the eldest of three children. She received her education in Rhinelander, graduating in 1953. That same year, she was voted prom queen. She went on to attend St. Joseph Hospital in Milwaukee, where she graduated from their X-ray tech school. Following her graduation, she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Steil, while he finished dental school at Marquette State University. They were married August 4, 1956, in Wisconsin Rapids. Over their lifetime, they lived in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Miles City, Montana, and Sheridan, Wyoming, before retiring to Buffalo in 1988. Throughout her life, she enjoyed collecting antiques and camping with family. Her special companion later in life was her loyal dog, Braunie. She belonged to the DAR, Jolly Janes, Friends and Council, and was a member of the YMCA Board.

She is survived by her daughter, Patti McKenzie, and husband Chuck of Buffalo, son Gerald Steil of Sheridan, grandson Steven and his wife Crystal McKenzie of Helena, Montana, two granddaughters, Sarah and her husband Tyler Bishop of Great Falls, Montana, and Caytlin and her husband Scott Shreve of Florence, Alabama. Five great-grandchildren Wyatt, Wade, Lydia Grace of Helena and Faith and Tauren of Florence, Alabama. She is also survived by her sister Jennifer Stockhausen of Louisville, Texas and brother Ray Woznick Jr. of Waunakee, Wisconsin. Also, special friend Dick Bradshaw of Buffalo.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Mary Ellen Woznick,

and her husband, Dr. William G. Steil. There will be a gathering of friends and family at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Rec Hall, 532 North Lobban Avenue, following the service.
