Janelle Townsend

Janelle Sass Townsend, a cherished sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 13, 2024.  Born on May 23, 1956, in Madison, Wisconsin, Janelle’s bright spirit and tenacity for life from her early years remained a constant throughout her life. She departed this world in the peaceful surroundings of Story, Wyoming, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service.

Janelle’s early life in Middleton laid the foundation for her strong character and work ethic. Janelle’s passion for real estate was not just a career but a calling. As a respected real estate agent and property manager, she took immense pride in her work, guiding countless individuals and families to find their perfect homes and investments. 

In her personal life, Janelle was a passionate soul who found solace and joy in the outdoors. Camping and horseback riding in the Bighorn Mountains were among her favorite pursuits. The mountains provided a backdrop for many cherished memories with family and friends. Janelle’s love for the wilderness was a testament to her adventurous spirit and her appreciation for the natural beauty of Wyoming.

Janelle is survived by her loving family, who will miss her deeply. Her sisters, Jill Landre and Janiene Beauchene, her sons, Jason Tomich (Nedra) and Jarrod Haveman, her grandchildren, Skyler Walters (Daniel), Riley Tomich, and Michael Tomich, as well as her great-grandchildren, Leonard and Lylah Walters. Janelle also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. 

Preceded in death by her parents, George and Betty (Lindberg) Sass, and her brothers, Jay Sass and Jeff Sass. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with those she has missed dearly.

Janelle’s life was a testament to her belief in hard work, the importance of family, and the joy of living a life filled with purpose and adventure. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on through the memories she has created with those who loved her.

As the sun sets over the Bighorn Mountains, we bid farewell to Janelle Sass Townsend, a remarkable woman whose journey on this earth has come to a peaceful end. May her memory be a comforting embrace to all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her in this life. A private family service will be held at a later date.
