Robert (Bob) Clarence Cornwell 80, Gillette WY passed away surrounded by family on July 7th, 2024.
He was the first child of 6 born to Oscar and Eleanor (Harbaugh) Cornwell. Bob was born on August 8, 1943, in Dubuque Iowa. As a young boy, he and the family milked cows at various small dairy farms. He attended Garnavillo and other public schools within Iowa. As a teenager, the family moved to Wisconsin and continued to farm. He graduated from Wauzeka High School. He met the love of his life Marlene and together, they moved to Wyoming in 1977.
In Wyoming he worked in construction building Campbell County Memorial Hospital, Campbell County High School, and built homes in the community. He then started working in the oil fields of Campbell County for numerous outfits including his own company R & M Pumping and went on to work for Devon Energy until his retirement in 2018.
In his later years Bob loved to build and add on to his and Marlene’s home, building decks, additions, and remodels. He loved taking Marlene to Deadwood, they shared many wonderful memories of their trips. They liked traveling back to Wisconsin and Iowa frequently to visit family and friends. Bob also enjoyed time with his friends and neighbors through the years.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Eleanor Cornwell and Robert Lewin. Father In-Law Carl Rounds. Brothers John Lewin, John and Roger Cornwell, Sister-In-Law Diane Rounds. Children Randy and Scott Cornwell. Niece Stephanie Schaub.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 44 years and 8 months Marlene (Rounds) Cornwell. Siblings Bruce (Donna) Cornwell, Steve (Deanna) Cornwell, Brenda (Fred) Schaub. Sons Rick Cornwell, Doug (Billie) Caley. Daughters Kris (Jim) Stocks, Roberta (Murray) Lear, Lisa (Mike) Schwem, Brandy Wright (David) along with 2 uncles Gene and Gary Harbough and Mother-in-Law Wilma Rounds. Also, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Bob was a proud and loving grandfather (Poppa) to Jacob, Sydnee, Austin, Mickaila, Kurtis, Tayler, Mathew, Rylie, Anthony, Elizabeth, Reaghan, Garrett, Kennedy, Bob, Adam, Kolby, and Cody.
Cremation has taken place; a memorial service will be held at the Mount Pisgah Inspirational Garden in Gillette Wyoming on July 26th at 1p.m. Charity Stewart will give the eulogy. Please join us for an ice cream social afterward. Bob will be laid to rest at the Ceres Church in Garnavillo, Iowa at a later date. Kane Funeral Home will be overseeing arraignments.
