Graveside funeral services for James Norton, 68-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away February 8, at the Johnson County Health Care Center in Buffalo will be held Saturday, February 10, in Willow Grove Cemetery with the American Legion and VFW in charge of military graveside honors. James Steven Norton was born on May 14, 1955, in Pasadena, California to Ralph and Ruth Norton. He lived in Anaheim, California where he went to first through sixth grades. The family then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he went to school and graduated from Valley High School with the class of 1974. In April of 1975, James joined the U.S. Navy and in November of 1976, he received an honorable discharge. James attended College in Bakersfield, California for a few years. After college James worked construction in California for several years and in 1998 he moved to Buffalo, Wyoming where he lived until his death.
James was an avid gardener and a very accomplished carpenter. He was into Beatles music and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing for the family. He especially liked singing songs from his family’s church youth choir and show tunes. He is survived by three sisters, Penney Jessup, Georgia, Chris Conner of Grove, Oklahoma, and Joann “Sue” Neeson of Visalia, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
