Brenda Wooley

It has been a long and glorious road home for Brenda Joy Wooley indeed. Her middle name was Joy, which was very fitting for her big brown eyes which were always joyful and happy. She was a wonderful wife, sister, aunt and friend. For 76 years she traveled this earth making friends everywhere she went. Born September 5, 1947, in Monroe, Wisconsin, and lived most all her years in her beloved Rocky Mountains from Colorado to Canada. After a long illness, the Lord called her home on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
As a young girl, she and her family moved west to the Rocky Mountains in the late 1950s. While living near Evergreen, Colorado, Brenda met her lifelong companion and love of her life, Ernie Wooley. They were united in marriage on February 11, 1966, and married 50 years when Ernie passed.
Brenda and Ernie first arrived in the Ranchester area in 1968 and eventually settled in Sheridan, Wyoming. They owned “Wash Yer Wooley’s” Laundromat for many years. She also owned Little Goose Creek Bookkeeping which helped many businesses in the area including the John Wayne Cattle Company where she worked during her time in Colorado, and became life-long friends.
Brenda’s passion from the time she was a child was always her horses. Her younger years were spent riding and training them. Her other passion that she had a knack for, was designing and contracting the building of most of their homes along the way.
Brenda and Ernie were God-fearing folks, who extended themselves and always looked for ways to help others and spread the gospel. They were both members of the Cornerstone Church in Sheridan.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie, parents, Melvin and Lorraine Duerst. She is survived by siblings Colleen Duerst of Golden, CO, Brad (Susan) Duerst of Southlake, TX, Rob (Jane) Stuessy, Cyndy (Dave) Winders, and Melaine (Dan) Davidson all of Sheridan, Wy, and sister-in-laws Donna Hagin of Denver, CO and Betty Johnson of Albuquerque, NM, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11:00 am in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Tony Forman officiating. A reception will follow at the Big Horn Women’s Club in Big Horn.
