Elizabeth Bernice Firnekas was born on August 26, 1941, in Spearfish, South Dakota to Robert and Creta Wolf. She grew up and went to school in Spearfish. When she was seventeen, she visited Buffalo, Wyoming with a couple of friends and ended up staying in Buffalo and working at the Idlewild Café waiting tables. She was married in Buffalo on January 4, 1960, to Charles Russell Firnekas and they made their home on the family ranch on Willow Creek west of Kaycee. Charlie and Betty raised their family on the ranch. Charlie passed away in February of 2019 and Betty continued living on the ranch until the time of her death.
Betty loved cooking and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed gardening and could grow anything. She was an accomplished seamstress, quilter, and crocheter but her passion was spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved giving all her grandkids nicknames. She is survived by one son Dale Firnekas and his wife Becky of Kaycee and two brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Buster Firnekas, her daughter Lila Berg and ten brothers and sisters.
