Edward Taylor

Private family graveside services for Edward Taylor, a 79-year-old lifetime Buffalo resident who passed away early Saturday morning at the Johnson County Health Care Center, will be held by his family in Willow Grove Cemetery. Donations in Edward’s memory may be made to the Johnson County Youth Shooting Sports in care of the Johnson County Extension Office at 30 Fairgrounds Road in Buffalo, Wyoming 82834. Edward Charles Taylor was born on November 15, 1943, in Buffalo, Wyoming to Charles and Eulala Taylor. Edward grew up and went to school in Buffalo and graduated from Johnson County High School with the class of 1962.  After high school, he worked on the Purdy Ranch and guided hunters for Dad, J.D. Elsom, and as a local car mechanic.  After working for the Purdy Ranch, he went into construction and worked for Rissler/McMurray for over twenty years.  He was married in Buffalo in 1968 to Barbara Lamphere and they made their home in Buffalo.  They were divorced in 1975 and Ed traveled working in road construction. He later took a job driving trucks for Shawn Welch Constructions until 2017 when he retired and continued living in Buffalo.

Edward was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding dirt bikes, skiing, snow machining, and spending time in the mountains. He was an avid rodeo fan and loved watching his grandkids compete. 

He is survived by two sons, Charles Taylor of Palmer, Alaska, and Wade Taylor and his partner Johnnie Bahr of Buffalo; one daughter, Kimberly Hendricks of Rapid City, South Dakota; three brothers, Dr. David Elsom and his wife Marla of Spearfish, South Dakota, George Elsom of Rapid City, South Dakota and John Elsom and his wife Val of Buffalo; three sisters, Jan Kolnik and her husband John of Buffalo, Judy Shippy of Sheridan and Jocelyn Burns of Rapid City; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Jerry Elsom and one grandson Traven Taylor.
