Howard Turk

A private family celebration of life for Howard Turk, a 92-year-old lifetime Buffalo resident who passed away Friday at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, Wyoming will be held by his family at a later date. Donations in Mr. Turk’s memory may be made to the St. Francis Animal Shelter at 107 Flat Iron Drive in Buffalo, Wyoming 82834.

Howard Halsey Turk was born on March 14, 1931, in Sussex, Wyoming to Halsey and Carol Turk.  He grew up and went to school in Sussex.  After school, he worked with his family on the family ranch.   He was married on May 10, 1952, in Buffalo to Bonnie Finley and they made their home in Buffalo.  Howard joined the U.S. Army and served in North Carolina before being transferred to Germany.  He and Bonnie lived in North Carolina for a short time while Howard finished his service to our country.  They returned to Buffalo in 1954 where Howard owned and operated Howard’s Electric for many years. Howard sold the business to his son Mike and retired in 2003.  Bonnie passed away in February of 2016 and Howard continued living in Buffalo until his death.

Howard and Bonnie loved spending time at their cabin in the Big Horn Mountains.  He was an avid shooter and shot in competitions.  He was also an accomplished woodworker.  His passion was spending time with his family. He is survived by one son, Kent Turk, and his wife Patty of Buffalo; one sister Mary Louise Lund of Buffalo; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie; three sons, David, Mike, and Larry Turk; one sister Darlene Schlacter and one brother Jack Turk.
