Betty Trebelcock

Funeral services for Betty (Willey) Trebelcock, 92-year-old Buffalo resident, who passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, at Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, will be held Saturday, April 1st, at 2:00 p.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo Wyoming, with Pastor William Dunlap officiating.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Friday, March 31st, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.  Donations in Betty’s memory may be made to the Amie Holt Care Center at 497 West Lott, Buffalo, Wyoming 82834.  Online condolences may be made at www.harnessfuneralhome.com.

Betty Gene Trebelcock was born on January 17, 1931, in Moorcroft, Wyoming to Frank and Frances Willey. The oldest of six children, she grew up on a ranch on the Belle Fourche River north of Alva, Wyoming, where she attended elementary school.  She started high school in Belle Fourche and then attended Spearfish High School, where she graduated with the class of 1949.  She took pride in being selected as the first Homecoming Queen at Spearfish High School during her senior year.  After high school, she attended Black Hills State Teacher’s College for one semester.  She was married on December 24, 1949, in Spearfish, South Dakota to Robert I. Trebelcock and they made their home in Spearfish.  In August of 1950, they moved to the Vest Ranch near Sussex, Wyoming where they worked as ranchers and joined her parents and five siblings who were also employed by the ranch. They later moved to the Smith Brothers Ranch where they worked and started their family. In the mid-1950 they moved to Buffalo where they lived until divorcing in April of 1974.

In August 1976, Betty was employed by the Veteran’s Home of Wyoming and thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the residents and fellow employees until she retired in 1994.

She continued living in Buffalo until her death.

Betty was a member of the Royal Neighbor’s Lodge, a past member of the Jolly Janes Homemakers Club, and the Buffalo Cancer Support Group. She enjoyed Square Dancing, picnics in the mountains on Hunter Creek, and countless hours raising large gardens and canning for a family of six. She is survived by three sons, Robert Trebelcock and his wife Jeri of Lander, Wyoming, Rod (Rodney) Trebelcock and his wife Jana of Ulysses, Kansas, and Bryan Trebelcock and his wife Clarette of Huntington Beach, California; one daughter Karen Jobe and her husband Lou of Durango, Colorado; one sister Linda Reed of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, Norma Brown, Marian Yingling, and Joan Svalina, and one brother Jim Willey.
