Michael Standish

A private family interment for Michael Standish, a 73-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away September 24th at his home in Buffalo, will be held by his family at a later date. Michael Len Standish was born on November 19, 1948, in Tucson, Arizona to Leonard and Mary Standish. He grew up and went to school in Tucson and graduated from Rincon High School in Tucson with the class of 1967.  In 1968, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam as a ship fitter on the U.S.S. Tripoli. He transferred to the U.S.S. Okinawa for 30 days to help retrieve Apollo 15 in 1968.  Following an honorable discharge, he was married on May 18, 1973, in Tucson to Sherrie Hessick and they made their home in Tucson where Mike worked for Frontier Fence.  In 1979 they moved to Buffalo, Wyoming where he worked construction from 1979 until 1984 when he took a job with Johnson County Road and Bridge.  Mike worked for Road and Bridge until he retired in 2012.  After retirement, he continued living in Buffalo until his death.  

Mike was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing in the mountains.   Mike was an extremely descriptive, animated, and entertaining storyteller and enjoyed telling stories to his family and friends.

He is survived by two sons, Justin Standish and his wife Julie of Lake Elsinore, California and Tanner Standish and his wife Brandi of Buffalo; one daughter Sara Standish of Eureka, California; his former spouse and lifelong friend Sherrie Standish of Tucson, Arizona and eight grandchildren, Clayne, Braylee, Rylee, Hayes, Asher, Jordan, Hailee, and Amber. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Robert Standish.
