unanimously in the Senate Judiciary Committee Monday and moves to the Senate floor this week. According to the bill’s sponsor, State Senator for District 11 Larry Hicks, the bill upholds the second amendment and prevents Wyoming officials from enforcing federal mandates that infringe on Second Amendment rights. The measure was written in collaboration with Wyoming law enforcement officials and Gun Owners of America.

Hicks said the Second Amendment Protection Act builds on Wyoming’s strong Second Amendment legacy and arms Wyoming people and law enforcement with the ability to push back on the federal government’s attempts to infringe on Wyoming gun rights. The legislation would prohibit Wyoming state and local agencies from using state or local funds to enforce unconstitutional federal gun control measures that infringe or impede on the free exercise of the Second Amendment. The bill moves to the Senate floor for debate.  You can view the bill here.

If the federal government wants to enforce firearms laws the very least we can do is force them to come here an do it themselves. The state and local governments have no business helping them to do it. The legislature should pass this legislation in the strongest form possible and the governor should sign it.
