Johnson County has entered into an agreement that will benefit residents by sharing health information overseen by the Wyoming Department of Health.

According to the Wyoming DOH website, the Wyoming Frontier Information System (WYFI) is a statewide secure, connected, and coordinated health IT system that supports efficient and effective healthcare.

Trisha Thompson, Nursing Manager at Public Health, said there is a similar program currently in use called the Wyoming Immunization Registry that allows anyone who provides state vaccinations to see if someone has had immunizations in another office to keep from doubling them up.

Thompson said WYFI is similar.

The benefit of the program is that it prevents clients from having their health information or requests for approvals becoming lost.

All of the information is in the system, and not just public health offices have access to the information, but health providers, hospitals, clinics and others.

Civil Deputy County Attorney Barry Crago has reviewed the agreement and the commissioners approved the contract with the Wyoming Department of Health.
