WDWS Release 2018 Workplace Deaths Report

Workplace Deaths last year in Wyoming were slightly below average but several more than in the previous two years according to information from the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services. 31 people died on the job in 2018 as opposed to 20 in 2017 and 27 in 2016. Since 1992, Wyoming has seen an average of 33 workplace fatalities. 

Over 60% of last year’s deaths were the result of transportation incidents. Since 2003, 56.6% of workplace fatalities in the state have been attributed to that category. Other categories that accounted for the remaining deaths in 2018 were trade, transportation, and utilities, leisure and hospitality industry, and construction.
