Fire crews battling a blaze in the Big Horn National Forest have made more progress in containing it, but the growing question is, can they stop it from crossing into Montana?

As of 9am Tuesday, August 10th, the fire has burned 1,561 acres, with 35% containment reported.

From it’s point of origin, the fire has been moving northeast, and has come close to Forest Road 11, but it has not yet crossed that road.

It’s also more than halfway to the Montana border.

The National Weather Service in Billings, Montana has issued a red flag warning, for Sheridan County from noon until 10pm for Tuesday.

Approximately 90 firefighters are battling the fire in various areas.

Some are constructing direct and indirect lines of containment, and a helicopter is still doing bucket water drops on hot spots in the area.

Others are cold trailing and mopping up areas that have already burned

The air quality in the area recently improved from moderate to good.
