Sheridan is the fourth safest city in Wyoming.

That’s according to SafeWise, an online resource that gathers safety and security information for homes and communities and annually reports on how cities measure up in terms of how safe their citizens are, and feel.

According to Rebecca Edwards, the lead safety and tech reporter for SafeWise, Sheridan has experienced an “interesting journey” over the last three years.

According to the SafeWise report, Worland is the safest city in Wyoming in 2021.

The company’s evaluation is based on the number of reported violent crimes in each city, and in event of a tie, the report factors in property crimes, including burglary, arson, larceny and motor vehicle theft.

Edwards said in 2020, property crimes went down across the nation, but there was an increase in violent crimes. Even so, according to the SafeWise 2021 report, even though there was a slight uptick in violent crime in Wyoming, crime rates as a whole have remained below the national average for the past three years, and Wyoming residents are the least concerned about property crime, gun violence and the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the report, nearly nine in 10 Wyoming residents feel safe in their state, compared to just over five in 10 residents in other states.
