The capital construction bill moved out of Wyoming’s Legislature Friday and as House Enrolled Act 73 is now awaiting action by Governor Mark Gordon.

Mark Kinner, representative for Sheridan County, noted Friday morning that state lawmakers couldn’t come to an agreement on the measure during last year’s session. This year, he said, the bill came out with $12 million earmarked for Wyoming’s community colleges and $6 million for the University of Wyoming.

Kinner said of particular importance to Sheridan, the land gifted to Sheridan College by Emit has been placed on a maintenance schedule.

The capital construction measure provides around $129 million total to various projects in Wyoming, including $2 million for the capital building in Cheyenne.

Kinner said that legislators were wrapping up their work Friday although among critical bills not yet resolved was House Bill 173, relating to school funding. Differences between the House and Senate versions of that bill meant issues would have to be resolved in a joint House/Senate conference committee.

Kinner said Governor Gordon also signed the supplemental budget that lawmakers sent to him late this week.
