Ron RichterWyoming Governor Mark Gordon and University of Wyoming President Ed Seidel were in Sheridan Wednesday to tour Sheridan College and discuss the Wyoming Innovation Network. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
In late January, Governor Mark Gordon announced an initiative aimed at modernizing and refocusing Wyoming’s higher education system. Governor Gordon says the Wyoming Innovation Network calls for a closer collaboration between the state’s seven community college’s and the University of Wyoming, with an emphasis on developing innovative solutions that will support and enhance the workforce and the economy in the State.
Governor Gordon said UW President Ed Seidel is chair of a committee that is directing the effort that includes higher education leadership from around the state and that Seidel has met with the presidents of the community colleges.
Gordon talked about how higher education institutions working together will benefit the citizens of Wyoming.
The Governor said WIN is intended to support the state’s overall economic vision that’s set forth by the Wyoming Business Council and support education attainment goals developed by the state.
