Voters Select Camino, Madsen for Buffalo City Council

Voters in Johnson County on Tuesday cast their ballots for candidates in a number of local races.

In the City of Buffalo, John Camino and Scott Madsen were chosen for two open seats on the city council.

Incumbent Bob Perry ran unopposed and was sent back to the county commission.

There were five positions open on the Johnson County School Board, and those voted in were Jan Johnson, Kristen LeDoux, Jodi Verplanke, Randy Brown, and Lynette Fox.

For the two open seats on the Hospital Board of Trustees, incumbents Mark Schueler and Christy Kinghorn were the winners in that race.

In the race for the Rural Health Care District Marilyn Connolly and Marie Miller took the two openings on that board.

In the question to retain Judge William J. Edelman for another 6-year term, 1,113 Johnson County voters said yes, and 2,502 voters said no.

The proposition to renew the county’s Solid Waste District mill levy for operations at the county landfills was passed by voters by a count of 2,883 for and 1,625 against.

In the newly-created Senior Citizen Service District, voters chose Dan Gay, Margaret Fraley, and Mark Alan Wilson for 2-year terms and Kellie Jensen and Cheryl Benner for 4-year terms as trustees.
