Aaron PalmerThe Wyoming Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of former Buffalo Chamber of Commerce Director Angela Fox.
According to the supreme court website, in an opinion filed July 10th, the court said in conclusion that “the available credit on a credit card is intangible property subject to theft” under Wyoming law.
“Sufficient evidence showed Ms. Fox exercised unauthorized control over the Chamber’s property,” and affirmed the conviction.
In May of 2019 Fox was found guilty of three counts of felony theft stemming from her use of chamber of commerce credit cards to make personal purchases for just over $8,600 from 2014 through 2017 while employed at the chamber.
She was sentenced to two to five years for each count, to run consecutively, but the sentence was suspended except for 90 days that she served in the Johnson County Detention Center.
She was given 10 years of supervised probation until restitution in the amount of just over $16,000 is paid to the chamber of commerce.
Attorneys for Fox filed the appeal with the court on January 2nd of this year.
