Yellowstone NP Reports Second Busiest Year For Visitor Numbers In 2025
The Nation’s First National Park reports that last year was the second busiest year on record in terms of visitor numbers.
In 2025, Yellowstone National Park recorded a combined total of almost 4.763 million visitors through the 5 entrances to the park.
That makes it the 2nd highest number of visitors in one year, only behind 2021, when there were 4.86 million.
The 2025 numbers top the previous 2nd best of more than 4.744 million visitors that was set in 2024.
Last year’s government shutdown in October did not have enough of an impact on yearly numbers vs. 2021.
Monthly visitor numbers in October vs. October 2024, was down by 14,279 visitors (134,825 in October 2025 vs. 149,104 in October 2024).
The top 4 years in terms of visitor numbers to Yellowstone NP, have happened in the past 5 years, with the exception of 2022, when there was the flooding disaster.
Snow plow crews are currently working on clearing various roads within the park, and are scheduled to open the west entrance on April 17th, the East entrance on May 1st and the South entrance on May 8th.
The road connecting the North to the Northeast entrance is open to motor vehicle traffic year round.
