Representative Bratten Discusses Legislative Session

The 2026 Budget Session of the Wyoming Legislature began on February 9 and is expected to wrap-up on March 11.  K-12 School Finance Recalibration is a constitutionally mandated process that the State Legislature is tasked with addressing every five years. State Representative for House District 51 Laurie Bratten say she remains optimistic that Senate File 81, the school finance bill, will continue to proceed.

Representative Bratten also addressed the number one reason legislators are currently in Cheyenne, the budget bill.

Some upcoming key dates of the budget session; Monday March 2 is last day for bills to be reported out of committee in the second chamber; March 3 is the last day for Committee of the Whole on bills in the second chamber; March 5 is the last day for third reading in the second chamber; and March 11 is the day for any potential veto overrides and anticipated adjournment of the 2026 Budget Session.
