Jo Co Commission Certifies Mineral Bankruptcy Fees

The Johnson County Commission voted for certification of Mineral Royalty Fees.

Commission Chairman Bill Novotny explained why the county was doing so.

The commission certified costs of nearly $116,500 for the 2025 calendar year.

Johnson County, back in 2022, accepted a tax settlement with Carbon Creek/US Realm in the amount of $22.7 million.

At the time, the settlement called for Carbon Creek to pay an up-front amount of $10 million, and then pay the remaining $12.7 million in monthly payments of $125,000 over the next eight years.
