At a scheduled change of plea hearing in Fourth Judicial District Court Thursday for Jeremy Herrera of Sheridan, Herrera’s defense attorney Jordan Camino informed the Court that her client had changed his mind, and did not want to change his plea and move forward with the plea agreement that was recently reached with the State. Camino also informed the Court that due to a conflict of interest, she would no longer be able to represent Herrera in the future. Public Defender Erin Wardell said that Herrera’s case would most likely be handled by the Campbell County Public Defender’s Office.

Herrera was arrested and charged with Felony Property Destruction last summer for an incident that occurred on May 2, where he allegedly damaged another individual’s vehicle while doing cookies with his truck on the gravel roadway near Rotary Pond at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds. The incident also caused injuries to a pedestrian and the owner of the vehicle that was damaged. Herrera was also charged with Reckless Driving and Driving Under the Influence. District Court Judge John Fenn did not set a trial date at Thursday’s hearing, but did continue the bond under the same terms and conditions that were previously set forth in Circuit Court. The crime of Felony Property Destruction is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
