On Monday, May 12, the Clearmont Day Planning Committee held it’s monthly meeting to discuss the schedule for the day. Committee member Karen Carvalho unveiled the banner which will be hung across the street next week advertising the day. The banner can be used year after year, with just a change of the date, which can be Velcroed on.

There was a discussion with Chris Schock, Mayor of Clearmont and Pete Bassett, town maintenance man, about how best to hang the banner.

Carvalho displayed some craft projects from Home Depot, which will be offered for the youngsters to make during Clearmont Day.

The Clear Creek Recreation District donated several small bird houses the kids can paint and decorate.

There was considerable discussion about what streets should be blocked off during the celebration. Water Street near the park will be blocked off, as well as New York Avenue. The committee also discussed offering handicapped parking during the day.

Last year the antique cars were parked in the street near Town Hall, but they were not in view of the park. This year Amy Rowe, Committee chairman felt they should be parked on New York Avenue, so people in the park could see them.

Rowe added that there will be a corn hole tournament, music throughout the afternoon, as well as a chicken poop bingo game.

There are free hamburgers served at noon, and attendees are asked to bring a side, salad or a dessert to share along with the hamburgers. Powder River Energy Foundation is again donating the beef for the hamburgers.
