Robert Prusak Honored with Distinguished Alumni Award

Each year, the Sheridan College Distinguished Alumni Award is given to an individual who graduated from Sheridan College and has gone on to do well in the world. Distinguished Alumni have demonstrated achievement in their chosen profession, service to the community, or outstanding contribution to Sheridan College.

This year, the 2025 Award recipient was Robert Prusak of Ulm, Wyoming. He graduated from Sheridan College in 1986 with a degree in nursing.

An awards ceremony for Prusak was held on May 7, at Sheridan College.

Stephanie Ellis, Alumni and Communications Coordinator at Sheridan College, talked about Prusak.

There was a short video, with several of Prusak’s associates talking about his accomplishments over the years.

Tobie Alsup, director of nursing at Sheridan College, said she has known Robert for many years and said he is quiet, very unassuming. “As I got to know him, it was clear that he cares about people and his community. When he is talking to you, he listens to you. Robert is truly one of the best.”

Robert said he was honored by the award and felt that earning the degree at Sheridan College allowed him to continue working on his ranch while he attended school.

Robert was born and raised on a ranch near the former railroad town of Ulm. Robert, who said he is an “old country kid,” and his family still live and raise cattle on the land near Ulm.

Sheridan College has become a family tradition for Prusak.

As well as his job, Matthew and his wife Karis and their family, continue to ranch with Robert on the land near Ulm.

A large crowd attended the event and the reception for Prusak which followed the ceremony.
