SCLT invites public to take a tour of Big Goose Natural Area

Director of Conservation John Graves will be leading a tour of the newly opened Sheridan Community Land Trust Big Goose Natural Area. The property unfolds across approximately 117 acres, boasting a diverse landscape that includes grassy pastures, upland range, and riparian lowlands, as well as cottonwoods along Big Goose Creek.
According to a news release from SCLT, the property is actively ranched, and home to an array of wildlife connecting the public to history, nature, and the outdoors. Attendees will learn how SCLT is stewarding this resource on the edge of a growing Sheridan community, ensuring it remains open, accessible, and working for generations to come.
The tour will begin at 9 a.m. and end around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area, located at 14 Lane Ln, Sheridan.
SCLT advises those planning to attend to wear comfortable outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes or boots, dressing in layers and wearing long sleeves and pants. The Land Trust asks people bring a water bottle and sun protection and bug spray may come in handy.
The tour will be walking on uneven ground and possibly in grass and brush. Ticks, mosquitoes, and rattlesnakes are all present at the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area. SCLT asks no pets be brought on this tour and thanks the public.
