Unemployment numbers in Wyoming increased some in December 2024 thanks to the cold weather.
The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says the statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased from 3.3% in November to 3.5% in December.
The rate was at 2.9% in December of last year.
The US Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for December was at 4.1%, which is down from 4.2% in the previous month, and was at 3.8% in December of 2023.
Sheridan County’s unemployment rate went up from 3.2% in November 2024 to 3.4% in December, while Johnson County held steady at 3.3%.
Sheridan County’s rate was at 2.4% in December 2023, while Johnson County was at 2.6%.
Converse, Teton and Weston Counties tied for the lowest unemployment rate in December at 3.0%, while Sublette County had the highest rate at 4.7%.
Non-farm employment in the Cowboy State increased by 5,100 jobs from December of last year to December of this year.
