The white stuff may be on the ground for now, but before it’s gone, the orange stuff will take its place on some highways.

WYDOT has planned 3 big road construction projects of note for Sheridan and Johnson Counties in 2025.

One of them is Phase II of the Buffalo Main Street project, between Parmelee and Hart Streets, and that includes the downtown area.

Another is a reconstruction project of an 8-mile stretch of I-90, where if you are heading towards Montana, would start about 1 ½ miles past the exit to Ranchester, and end at the Montana border line.

Several bridges in that construction zone will either be rebuilt or have rehabilitation work done.

In Johnson County, pavement rehabilitation work will be done on a 9-mile stretch of I-25 Southbound, starting at milepost 253, which is just past the exit to Kaycee.

According to the WYDOT State Transportation and Improvement Project Map, other projects planned this year include replacing the bridge on East Works Street over the Little Goose Creek in Sheridan.

Pavement resurfacing projects are planned for US Highway 14, between I-90 and the town of Ranchester, a separate 6-mile stretch of US Highway 14 between mileposts 14 and 20, between Sheridan and UCross, and a 13-mile stretch of Wyoming State Highway 196 between mileposts 274 and 287, south of Buffalo.

Some safety improvement work will also be performed on parts of 196, as well as US Highway 16 between Buffalo and Worland.
